Meet Blake Kadatz: Employee Spotlight Series

April 15, 2025

Over the past 23 years with MCAP, Blake Kadatz’s career has grown tremendously. From his start in the MCAP call centre right out of college to his current role as Sr. Manager Risk Reporting and Technical Controls on MCAP’s Business Optimization team, his journey reflects the growth potential possible when you truly make your career your own.

Career Growth Alongside Company Growth

Throughout his tenure at MCAP, Blake has held a variety of roles. After his start in the call centre, he transitioned into underwriting as a documentation specialist and then Underwriter before becoming an Asset Quality Analyst (AQA) in the Credit Risk department, auditing files. “At the time, audits were done manually with paper files,” Blake explains.

“As MCAP grew and technology advanced, I focused on improving efficiency through automation, spending countless hours learning on YouTube and through trial and error.” Afterwards, he moved into the role of Senior AQA before progressing into a management role for the AQ team where he was able to implement process improvements and reporting enhancements.

He eventually took on the task of developing the current Asset Quality Program. After the program was launched, Blake transitioned to managing the Quantitative Analytics team, overseeing credit risk reporting while continuing to support the AQ Program. As Blake reflects, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed growing with MCAP from less than $2 billion assets under administration to the over $150 billion today.”

In 2023, he joined the Business Optimization team, expanding his focus to origination reporting, process improvements, and system enhancements. An aspect he loves about his current role is “the autonomy and ability to creatively solve problems. The variety every day brings new challenges and opportunities to innovate.”

Driving Your Own Career

One thing that sets Blake apart is his drive and resourcefulness. In addition to learning new skills on YouTube, he dove into online courses and hands-on experimentation to enhance his abilities. He also made use of the many resources at MCAP, both people resources by engaging with colleagues and leveraging internal expertise, and internal tools such as M-Talent, to help him develop and grow. Recognizing the importance of staying ahead of evolving technologies and industry trends, Blake is also pursuing a Business Intelligence degree to keep his skills sharp and deepen his technical knowledge.

Efficiency is an area that MCAP strives to excel in. As Blake explains, “MCAP is a culture that embraces innovation and continuous improvement.” It’s something we’re able to do by investing in the right technology that allows for better reporting and decision-making, which helps Blake and other MCAP employees excel at what they do.

According to Blake, collaboration and teamwork are part of the framework that help MCAP employees succeed – two intrinsic features of Blue Culture. Collaborating across departments, the transparency of senior leadership and a culture of continuous learning and improvement are all aspects that contribute to the positive environment at MCAP.

Questioning the Status Quo

Take the initiative to find ways to improve not only processes but also yourself.

With over two decades of experience at MCAP, Blake has furthered his career and continued to persevere by always being inquisitive – it’s a piece of career advice he likes to share with those he interacts with. “Don’t be afraid to ask why things are done a certain way or assume they have to be that way,” Blake shares. “Take the initiative to find ways to improve not only processes but also yourself.”
