Meet Kevin Melchior: Employee Spotlight Series

September 16, 2026

Kevin Melchior joined MCAP in early 2020 as a Financial Analyst, shortly after finishing university. Six years later, he leads the team as Director, Middle Office in MCAP’s Finance department. The Middle Office is responsible for valuing MCAP’s mortgage assets and liabilities – the numbers that flow into MCAP’s financial statements and reach stakeholders across the business. As Kevin puts it, “my work helps ensure that key financial information is accurate and reliable.”

Don’t underestimate the power of small steps. Consistent progress over time leads to meaningful growth.

A Career Built on Small Steps

Kevin’s first years at MCAP gave him a foundation in financial analysis, mortgage valuations and reporting, along with a working understanding of how the Middle Office supports MCAP’s broader finance function. From there, the responsibilities grew: deeper analysis of mortgage valuations, forecasting and support for key financial reporting deliverables.

While he was growing within the role, Kevin pursued his CFA designation, which strengthened his grasp of analysis, risk management and financial decision-making. Earlier this year, he stepped into the Director role.

“My career journey has been shaped by a combination of continuous learning, support from the team and being trusted with new challenges,” he says. “Those experiences helped me progress within Middle Office.”

Turning Data into Insight

The Middle Office produces the valuations and forecasts that MCAP’s finance function relies on. Kevin’s work spans a wide range of analytical responsibilities, including forecasting mortgage cash flows, valuing mortgage commitments and renewals, and quantifying financial impacts to the organization.

Beyond the numbers themselves, Kevin’s role is to interpret what the data means. “A large part of the role is taking data and turning it into meaningful insights that help support decision-making and financial reporting,” he says. Being challenged to think critically to uncover those insights is what he enjoys most about what he does.

Support That Makes Room for Growth

Ask Kevin what has helped him advance, and the answer starts with people. “The Finance department is filled with talented and intelligent individuals who are great sources of knowledge,” he says. “We genuinely enjoy working together and learning from one another. Everyone is invested in each other’s and the organization’s success.”

That extends well past his own team. Colleagues across MCAP have been willing to assist, answer questions and share what they know, which has made it easier for him to take on new challenges.

He next points to opportunity. “The opportunities that MCAP has provided to me have been the biggest support to my career journey,” Kevin explains. “I have been trusted with new responsibilities, encouraged to take on challenges and given the space to continue developing my technical knowledge.”

That support was particularly valuable during his CFA studies, when MCAP assisted with the program and encouraged him to keep developing his knowledge outside of his daily responsibilities. “MCAP’s support made it easier to balance professional development and a demanding role,” he says. It also reinforced the value MCAP places on continuous learning.

Blue Culture Behind the Scenes

Much of the Middle Office’s work happens behind the scenes, but it depends on collaboration and connections across the organization. For Kevin, that’s where Blue Culture plays a key role.

“Blue Culture impacts my day-to-day by encouraging collaboration across departments,” he says. “Working with other teams allows us to share knowledge, learn from one another and use each group’s strengths to solve problems more effectively.”

He sees this same willingness to help one another across MCAP, as people and teams work toward common goals. “This support helps create stronger outcomes for our teams, the organization and the partners we serve.”
