For MCAP, supporting Canadians is an important part of what we do and who we are. It goes beyond helping homeowners find the right mortgage to achieve their homeownership goals. Our goal is to make a lasting difference in the communities where we live, work, and do business.
With the support of our employees and partners, we were able to make a positive impact in 2025. Here are some of the highlights of what we’ve accomplished!
A Helping Hand for Habitat for Humanity Canada
For over 25 years, MCAP has been a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity Canada. With various programs and initiatives, we’ve been able to work alongside our partners at Habitat Canada to achieve our common objective — helping more Canadians realize their goal of homeownership.
Employee Payroll Deduction Initiative Generosity meets convenience with regular payroll deductions! MCAP Employees donated over $25K, and MCAP matched the donations by 125% to celebrate our 25 years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity. In total, over $56K was donated through this initiative. |
MCAP Charity Golf Tournament MCAP’s Waterloo team hosted their biggest charity golf tournament yet in 2025. The 6th annual charity golf tournament raised over $7K with 80 golfers in action. MCAP was proud to top up donations for a total of $10K going towards Habitat for Humanity Canada's Indigenous Housing Partnership. |
Importance of Home In 2025, MCAP continued to partner with valued brokers to support Habitat for Humanity Canada. This year’s fun and interactive fundraising initiative had broker teams to come together to build their dream home with gingerbread houses. With decorating parties in the West and the East, we were able to raise and donate $14K. |
Key to Hope™ Homeowners had the opportunity to make a one-time donation to Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Every Youth Initiative through MCAP’s MyHome Sweepstakes July activity. During the month of July, MCAP homeowners raised over $6K! MCAP happily matched all homeowners’ donations for a total over $12K to Habitat Canada’s Every Youth Initiative. |
Supporting Causes with a Personal Connection
The Caring & Sharing fund is a way for MCAP to support charities that are important and meaningful to MCAP employees by providing $20,000 annually to registered charities as nominated by our employees. Learn more about some of the charities we supported this year and the employees who nominated them.
I nominated Rainbow Railroad because of the critical, life-saving work they do to help LGBTQ+ individuals escape persecution, violence, and criminalization in countries where simply being who they are puts them at serious risk. Their work goes beyond advocacy — they provide direct support, relocation assistance, and pathways to safety for people facing very real and immediate harm.
For me, Rainbow Railroad represents compassion in action and reflects core Canadian values of inclusion, human rights, and standing up for those who are vulnerable. Supporting an organization that quite literally saves lives, while promoting dignity and equality, feels both meaningful and impactful.
Rainbow Railroad was nominated by Morgen Cookson, Director / Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer
In August 2025, I nominated MS Canada in honour of my dear friend, Rita, who passed away from multiple sclerosis that same month. Rita was a vibrant woman with an eclectic style and strong opinions. She was the mother of one of my closest friends and loved me as if I were her own. While Rita undoubtedly faced challenges living with MS, I cannot recall a time when she allowed the disease to define who she was or how she lived her life—whether dancing around to Alan Jackson, enjoying time at the beach, or sharing a laugh over something silly.
My hope is that this donation will continue to support research aimed at reducing the severity of MS and prolonging life, so that those living with the disease can enjoy long, fulfilling lives.
MS Canada was nominated by April Fillier, Sr. Manager, Operational Performance & Development
I nominated Flemingdon Health Centre because I’ve seen first-hand the impact of their work. I have a close friend who works there, so I’m very familiar with their goals, the programs they deliver, and the real progress they continue to make in the community. They provide essential supports like health care, mental health services, newcomer programs, seniors’ supports, youth programming, and food security initiatives. They serve as a true community hub for residents who need accessible and trusted care.
I also love this city, and I’m very aware that not everyone has the same access to resources or opportunities. Supporting an organization that helps our neighbours feel supported, healthy, and connected felt meaningful and aligned with my values.
Flemingdon Health Centre was nominated by Jessica Roberts, Director Broker Programs & Engagement

Habitat Build Day with MCAP’s Commercial Mortgages Group: This summer, some of our Commercial Mortgages Group members went out to Caledon, ON, to volunteer in a build day with Habitat for Humanity Canada. “My favorite part was seeing the team working together,” David Boyle, Managing Partner, Commercial Mortgages Group shared. “Learning some new skills, getting out of the office, and working collaboratively in a totally different environment was really enjoyable.”
It was a day of connection, teamwork, and the shared joy of contributing to something meaningful to help make a lasting difference to future Habitat homeowners.
“Supporting a Habitat Build day allowed our team to learn directly from the Habitat team. We heard from the families who will benefit from the creation of this new housing project that we were working on,” David reflects on the experience. “The overall hands-on experience made us feel that we weren’t just making a financial contribution, rather we were working hard on site to play a small part in contributing to a housing project that is so greatly needed.”
Donation to United Way BC: To support those affected by the tragic attack at the Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver, impacting the Filipino community, MCAP donated to local charities and organizations providing support and hope.
Celebrating the Holidays by Giving Back
From warm meals to thoughtful donations on behalf of our investors, we’re happy to share some of the ways we were able to give back during the season of giving.
- Over 10,000 Thanksgiving meals sponsored with donations to Union Gospel Mission, Good Shepherd Ministries, The Mustard Seed, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, and Welcome Hall Mission.
- Donations were made to Pathways to Education Canada, Food Banks Canada, Humane Canada, and The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness in lieu of holiday gifts to our investors.
- A special donation was made to Westcoast Family, Closer to Home, Holiday Helps, Family & Children’s Services (FACS) Foundation, and Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ to sponsor families and kids across Canada during the holiday season. Our contribution helped to offer comfort, warmth, and joy when it mattered most by providing families with gifts, winter essentials, and food.
Striving to Make a Difference in 2026 and Beyond
We’re proud of the hard work and contributions made by our homeowners, brokers, employees, and other partners. Each year, we’re able to see how collective efforts can make a valuable impact in the lives of Canadians. Thank you to everyone who helped bring our efforts to life in 2025 — we look forward to another great year in 2026!
